Assignment: Create a Citation Using Flippity

Students will collaborate and create a Flippity manipulative, which will allow them to examine and identify the various elements of a citation.

• Each student pair will share the Google sheet file with one another and use the following items in their shared template:

  • author: red

  • title of article or book: orange

  • title of container: yellow

  • other contributors: green

  • publisher: blue

  • publication date: purple

  • location: pink

These colors are chosen on purpose because they match the colors used for each element in the previous lesson.

• They will each choose 2 resources and will add each element to the template that are needed to create a citation for their resources.

• Each student will also provide links to their resources so the teacher can check they identified the elements correctly.

• One of the students will publish the template and will share it with the other student.

• Both will use the interactive manipulative activity to identify each element of their citations and drag them into the correct place.

• Both students will take screenshots of their completed activity, showing they placed the elements in their proper places.
